Bear Quay Founder Passes On

CHICAGO - Dave Hooker, founder of the Bear Quay website, died July 5 at the age of 64.

Dave, a longtime resident of Chicago, had established both the Bear Quay site at www.mindspring.com/~bearquay/quay.html in 1995 and Chub Quay (which recently celebrated it's seventh anniversary) at www.mindspring.com/%7Echubquay/chubquay.html in 1997. Before his retirement in 1995, he had worked at International Harvester. We was also active in the Chicago chapter of MENSA, the Harvard Lesbian and Gay Caucus and the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago. As of press time, there are no reports on cause of death.

The Chicago Tribune reported that a Memorial Service will be held at the Fourth Presbyterian Church on July 20 at 4 p.m at Michigan and Delaware in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Fourth Presbyterian Church, 136 E. Chestnut, Chicago IL 60611.

He is survived by his sister Patricia L. Hooker and partner Robert F. Lovely, according to the Chicago Tribune.
