Just Thought all the bears out there might be interested in hearing about this movie, released in 2004, and winner of several awards. As long as you dont mind subtitles (its in spanish) its a good watch- heres the official synopsis from the website, www.tlareleasing.com/bearcub
You can view the trailer on this website. Check it out
Pedro (José Luis García-Pérez) is an attractive and homosexual dentist who lives a sexually active lifestyle. He offers to take care of his 9 year-old nephew Bernardo (David Castillo) for two weeks while the child's mother, Pedro's older sister Violeta (Elvira Lindo), goes off to India with her latest "hippie" boyfriend. Pedro modifies his sexual behavior but quickly finds out that Bernardo is extremely comfortable and mature in his attitude towards life. When Violeta suddenly becomes detained in India, Pedro finds himself the boy's caretaker and must face the challenges of raising a child. As the relationship between uncle and nephew gradually becomes tighter through real love, friendship and affection, Violeta's estranged mother, Dona Teresa (Empar Ferrer), arrives to begin a relationship with Bernardo. But as she finds out more about Pedro's life, Dona Teresa believes that the upbringing of a child should not be left in the hands of a homosexual. Bear Cub is the newest film from Miguel Albaladejo, director of Manolito Four-Eyes (Manolito Gafotas).

A very big thank you to Bruin for donating to the website!

Bruin has donated $50 of his hard-earned cash to help support this website. Although he has used the Donation feature of this website - it did not automatically post it as it should - the reason is because apparantly PayPal (our transaction) needed us to upgrade our account into a "Premium" account and thusly his donation was awaiting approval.
All future donations *should* automatically be posted next time (or else you will be featured here) :).
So, anyone else like to donate? Thank you again!

150 Years of Bear Poetry
Posted by genpic on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 (19:02:56) (3300 reads)
2005 Marks 150 Years of Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass"
During 2005, three cities--New York, Washington, and Camden, New Jersey--are celebrating the 150th anniversary of Leaves of Grass. The poet who practically invented Bearhood actually lived in these cities.
What is surprising is the way Whitman's readers, particularly those who are artists in their own right, are also responding in far-flung communities in America and Europe, from Wisconsin to France, and from Alabama to the Netherlands. "Is Walt Whitman about to make a comeback?" asks Newsweek. "Stay ahead of the pack." (Newsweek, May 30, 2005, p. 78.)
