i know this sounds like a realy stupid question but, im going parting in london soon and im hoping to drop by a few bear bar/pubs. is ther any kind of dress code fore these places, or is it just the usal gear?

If you were going to one in the US I could tell you but as far as England is concerned I have no clue. Here blue jeans with a flannel shirt would work fine and work boots, or leather but I suspect that things are a tad different there.

i know we have other English guys here - you could try PM'ing them?

I've never been to England, but I do know that there are certain Gay bars everywhere that have certain dress codes, and I'm thinking primarily the Eagles, Gaunlet type that are heavily into Leather. If you pick up a Damon's guidebook for the area(s) you plan on visiting, it should tell you what you need to know.

Two personal notes, and I'm doubtless a minority on both:
I've never visited a city with the Gay/Bear bar scene in mind. It simply isn't on my list of Things to Do.

If I go into a bar worrying how I'm dressed, I'm in the wrong place. I go into a bar to drink, and chat with some friends, NOT to put on a fashion show. If a bar blocks my entrance because I don't fit their preferred profile, it's their loss.

hmmm very true Bruin im not often worried about such things, but you could say that being relitivly new to the bear scene and indeed, due to where i live never having expirience with gay culture, im sort of trying to conform before i define at least to some extent anyways....

Frankly, I'd worry about defining yourself before you worry about conforming.

I'm willing to bet your parents did a good job in raising you. You know right from wrong, have a modicum of manners, kept your grades up, have had a job or two.

While discovering your Gay aspect is initially unsettling, it really doesn't change your basic essence or what you've learned. Granted, you need to learn how you "fit" in an unexplored landscape, there's no need to "remake" yourself.

And PLEASE spare yourself the drama of reliving your high school social scenarios. It was stupid, baseless and overly drawn-out the first time. If anyone tries playing those games again at this stage in your life, it's time to shout out "NEXT!" and move on.

you dont have to worry about that Bruin, i dont remake myself to fit the community i just find one that fits me.
as fore the games people play ive learned fast that a pretty face and a few choice words can cause a whole world of damege, and hopfuly ive gotten out of the stage where i can be taken over by those common bouts of stupidity that comes with being idealistic and impressionable.
