So, I am out there searching on info, suggestions, and chat about weight training and bodybuilding. There has to be somewhere where a future musclebear can find some chat buds or forums to discuss becoming a musclebear... Anyone out there?

All the best to you in your quest to become a musclebear! I've been lifting weights off and on for more than twenty years, but just started back a few weeks ago on a serious routine. Here are a few practical tips you may already know and that probably seem like common sense, but some of us learned them the hard way:
1. Always try to perform each lift with correct form -- a poorly executed lift doesn't give the optimum effect, and can cause injury in some cases. 2. Get enough water and sleep each day -- growing muscles need hydration and rest.
3. A daily multivitamin probably couldn't hurt. Especially get plenty of vitamin C.
4. Be patient -- sometimes results come quickly, sometimes not. Don't get discouraged.
5. Don't be afraid to take a week or two off if you're sick or exhausted or injured -- give yourself some time to recover. Very Happy
6. Eat well and enough for your goals.

When I was younger, it was all about looks, trying to get a particular type of physique. Now I have poundage goals I try to achieve. For instance, my big long-term goal right now is to lift 600 pounds on the deadlift. It's going to take me a while to get there, but I think it's possible. The looks still mean something to me, but I mostly just want to get thicker and stronger. Of course, I wouldn't mind having a build like Bill Goldberg's, but I'm trying to set realistic goals, lol.

How about you -- do you have specific poundage goals? Are you getting into lifting for the first time?

well, currently now at 220. I am looking to be somewhere between 200 and 210. I really want to switch out my body fat for some muscle. I am doing pretty good so far. I got some starting photos on my yahoo profile (beartraining123). Check them out. Those are my starting point. I think I have made some headway over the past month or so. I take my next set in March to compare...

I am working on my food now... thats been the hardest part so far.
